Jobs and the Economy

My top priority is to ensure better jobs, higher wages and more economic opportunity for Californians. It costs way too much to live and work in California, and the jobs available to our workers are not keeping up with rising inflation and taxes. We need to stand up for better wages, fight rising education costs and support our small businesses that are driving new job creation across our state.

Housing

Housing prices in California have skyrocketed, and too many families are being left behind by a system that rewards greed and makes it too complicated and expensive to build more housing that is affordable.

Healthcare

Too many families are struggling with rising healthcare costs. While the Affordable Care Act provided a tremendous step forward and brought uninsured levels to record lows, more work is needed to ensure access to health insurance, lower prescription drug prices, and ensure there will be enough quality providers to serve our communities.

Public Safety

Everyone should feel safe -- and be safe -- in their community, no matter where they live. The work first responders and police officers do in our community is important and we must continue to support them.

Traffic & Transportation

Californians spend too much time stuck in traffic and not enough time with their friends and families. I recently secured funding necessary to complete improvements to the Interstate 680/State Route 4 interchange.

Education

Every student should be able to receive a world class education in our schools, work hard and retire with dignity. For many years, we have provided inadequate funding to our schools. We must address our state’s long term budget limitations in order to adequately fund our schools and invest in California’s future.
